Serious question. Does my i3 have an automatic transmission? Or is it manual? I mean, it’s 1 speed. I manually shift it into forward or reverse, and you have to go into neutral inbetween, manually...

So I think the i3 is a manual transmission car.

Exactly.

I do understand that modern automatics are cool from an engineering point of view though. But the BMW minivan with its fast shifting slushbox in that video is not cool in any imaginable way.

Now I’m wondering which candidates know how to drive manual. Biden and Sanders probably since they’re old. Other than that I’m not sure since there are so damn many of them and I’m not familiar with them. Inslee and Klobuchar might but nobody has really asked them this, very important, question.

I will concede that we’ve reach a point where they don’t completely suck. I’m actually rather impressed with the 9T45 in the Terrain in this regard . Beats the hell out of the soul crushing 4T60 in my old Grand Prix (the last auto I owned).

Automakers need to bring back the flowery names for transmissions before electric cars kill them off for good. Give us a decade or two of Super Fluidyne Turbo-Jets.

I hit the end of school there, so I have neglected the review I started.  However, the short answer is that I love it.  It’s just wonderful.
